Using VeriPRO

Hearing Protection Device (HPD) fit testing is a vital element of a successful noise and hearing conservation program. By measuring the noise attenuation an HPD provides to a specific person (known as Personal Attenuation Rating (PAR)), employers can:

  • Be sure that employee know how to properly wear HPDs.
  • Ensure that employees are receiving optimal hearing protection.
  • Identify the need for further hearing conservation education and training.
  • Determine whether the appropriate hearing protection is being provided to employees.
  • Meet provincial regulatory requirements for HPD fit testing as specified in Part 16 of the Alberta OHS Code.

EHSP provides one-to-one quantitative HPD fit testing. This includes:

  • Using the VeriPRO system to measure the PAR for all hearing protection devices being used onsite.
  • Provision of on-the-spot education and training on the use of specific HPDs as required by Part 16 of the Alberta OHS Code.
  • Generation of individual worker report and certificate for your records.

It is recommended that an initial fit test be conducted to develop baseline information and then conduct ongoing education, training, and testing at least once a year to gain a record of the progress of an employee’s PAR. Additional fit testing should occur whenever there are workplace changes such as new HPD or changes to the noise levels in the workplace. EHSP can work with you to develop a schedule and conduct the ongoing education, training, and fit testing to meet your needs.
