It is with a heavy heart that we inform everyone of the passing of Paul MacKinnon on March 27, 2024 at the young age of 55. A loving family man, a steadfast friend, and a kind mentor to many, Paul is survived by his wife Tracey and children Maeghan and Jackson.

We are heartbroken by this loss. Paul was a Senior Partner and one of the founders of EHSP. With Glyn Jones, he started Environmental Health Professionals in 1995. Following divestment to Golder & Associates in 2002, Paul and Glyn, together with Dave Christie, started EHS Partnerships Ltd. in 2005. Paul was a cornerstone of the company, assisting with the development of EHSP’s standards and practices, providing senior technical guidance, and helping many of EHSP’s current senior leaders grow into the roles they hold today. A modern-day renaissance man, Paul was also EHSP’s IT specialist and handyman. He would often be seen troubleshooting computers or building desks (with his many DIY accoutrements), all the while having the most mundane conversations that ranged from ice cream flavour comparisons to golf stats to car resale values. More importantly, you couldn’t have a conversation without Paul mentioning Tracey or the kids. He was so proud of them and his face always lit up when talking about them.

In the almost 30 years that he has been a part of Calgary’s safety community, Paul has touched countless lives. He leaves behind a strong business legacy and a whole community who will miss his dry humour, kindness, and guidance. We are blessed to have had Paul as one of EHSP’s Senior Partners and are grateful for 20 plus years of dedicated service. Paul inspires us to continue to work hard each day and live his legacy.

A Celebration of Life will be held at the Glencoe Golf & Country Club in Calgary on May 5, from 2 PM to 5:30 PM. Please join us in sharing memories by photos and fond stories, and toast to Paul’s life. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations would be gratefully accepted by the Canadian Heart & Stroke Foundation through the following link:
